SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Laramie Poudre Tunnel receives water from the west branch of the Laramie River and the
Rawah Ditch and transports it to the Cache la Poudre River eight miles downstream from
Chambers Lake. The Laramie Poudre Tunnel is sometimes known as the Greeley-Poudre
Tunnel. The Laramie Poudre Tunnel is part of the larger Laramie River System of the Tunnel
Water Company.
This key structure is owned by the Tunnel Water Company:
Tunnel Water Company
Fort Collins, Colorado
President: Fred Walker
Phone: (970) 482-3433
The Tunnel Water Company is a mutual ditch company with 2 shareholders: Water Supply and
Storage Company and Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company. There are 450 shares of Tunnel
Water Company stock. Water Supply and Storage is the majority owner of Laramie Poudre
Tunnel, owning 300 shares. The
Tunnel Water Company purchased the Laramie Poudre Tunnel and adjoining Laramie River
System in 1938 after the Greeley-Poudre Irrigation District went bankrupt. Assets of the
Greeley-Poudre Irrigation District were split between Water Supply and Storage Company and
Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company.
The location of Laramie Poudre Tunnel is shown on Figure 1.
LaramiePoudreTunnel.doc 2 of 10
