The Mariano exchange (Lon Hagler Reservoir and Mariano Reservoir) typically operates
starting in mid-July. Releases are made to the river for out-of-priority diversions through
the Home Supply Ditch headgate.
Deliveries of C-BT water owned by the individual irrigators is typically made at the end
of the season (during September) to supplement the share yields from the Company's
water right holdings.
Johnstown takes its direct water rights from the Home Supply Ditch through Lone Tree
Reservoir. Winter municipal supplies for Johnstown are provided by the Company's
storage rights. Johnstown has a small amount of terminal storage that is used to provide
the town with additional flexibility in its delivery system.
The Home Supply Ditch conveys both direct flow and storage diversions on behalf of the
shareholders. There are 2,001 shares and approximately 1501ateral headgates in the service area,
each with its own measuring flume. Historic yields have average about 10 ac-ft/share with adry-
year yield of about 7 ac-ft/share. The dry-year yield comes predominantly from storage.
Where to find more information
^ The Water District 4 Meeting Notes prepared for SPDSS Task 3 -Identify Key Diversion
Structures contains additional information on ditch and reservoir operations within the
Water District.
^ The SPDSS Task 5 Memorandum -Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District and the
Colorado-Big Thompson Project contains additional information on NCWCD and C-BT
operations within the Water District.
^ The Irrigated Acreage Assessment GIS Coverage prepared for SPDSS in Water District 4
has preliminary irrigated area for the Consolidated Home Supply Ditch and Reservoir
REFERENCES
1) Fred Renner, Water Commissioner Division 1, District 4.
