The superintendent for the ditch company is
responsible for collecting and reporting the end-of--month storage amount to the Water
Commissioner in Water District 4.
Boyd Lake (Structure ID 0404110)
Boyd Lake was constructed in the early-1900s and is located directly east of Horseshoe Lake and
Lake Nos. 3, 4, 6, and 7. GLIC owns Boyd Lake. Storage diversions are predominantly passed
through Lake Loveland and Horseshoe Lake to fill Boyd Lake. The Louden Ditch can also
deliver water to the north end of Boyd Lake via Donath Lake (see Operational Information
section). Five slide gates on the south side of Boyd Lake can be used to fill Boyd Lake from the
Loveland Greeley Canal when storage is less than 41,328 ac-ft. The slide gates can also be used
to release water into the Loveland Greeley Canal for use by shareholders when storage is
between 41,328 ac-ft and 49,048 ac-ft. Releases to the canal from below 41,328 ac-ft capacity
are made via pumps located on the southeast portion of the lake. Releases can also be made back
to the Big Thompson River approximately one-quarter mile above the Hillsborough Ditch
headgate. Storage into and releases from Boyd Lake are discussed further in the Operational
Information section.
Capacity:
Total Storage: 49,048 ac-ft
Active Storage: 48,481 ac-ft
Dead Storage: 567 ac-ft
Greeley Loveland Irrigation Company Operating Memorandum.doc 10 of 18 January 5, 2005
