Title
SPDSS Task 2 - Identify Key Streamflow Gages and Estimate Streamflows for Missing Records
Description
The objective of this task is to identify key streamflow gages to use in the SPDSS modeling efforts and to develop a method for filling missing data. Revised memo to account for new information regarding the Balzac Gage. Revised February 2007.

Combined Gages
There are six sets of key gages listed in Table 1 associated with the surface water and ground
water modeling for which the physical gage location moved during the SPDSS study period and
combining the data for the two gages was determined to be appropriate. The two gage locations
were compared to ensure that significant diversions or tributaries are not located between the old
and new gage and that contributing drainage areas were similar at both locations. As described
below, the gage data were adjusted when necessary to account for significant diversions located
between the old and new gage locations.
The combined data sets were created using the following TSTooI commands:
1. setOutputPeriod -Extends the dependent time series (new gage) to include the period
of the independent time series (old gage).
2. fillFromTS -Copies data from the independent time series to replace missing values in
the dependent time series.
With this method, data from the dependent time series (new gage) are used during any period
where the two gages have overlapping data. TSTooI assigns the combined gage with the station
name and ID of the new gage. The combined gages are listed below in Table 2.
Task2.doc 15 of 30
