The rgtwc.wem file contains IWR information for all structures of StateMod type WEL, i.e.
structures only receiving groundwater. This file was created by eliminating all structures not of
type WEL from the rgdss.ddc file and merging with several time series files that represent
municipal water demand. Note that the variable variables idvcomw in the well station (rgtwc. wes)
files is set to "1" for municipal structures, indicating that the demand values provided are total
demand.
Summary
The calculated demand scenario for the Surface Water Model includes a set of agricultural
demands that have been calculated based on historical cropping, climate and soil moisture
conditions over the 1950-1997 study period. These Irrigation Water Requirements (IWR) have
been developed by the Consumptive Use Contractor using the StateCU modeling tool, and results
were provided to the Surface Water Contractor as a rgdss.ddc file. This file, which includes
information for all agricultural structures represented in the surface water model, has been
combined with information on municipal water demands to create a single calculated demand file
for use in the Surface Water Model.
Comments and Concerns
The demand files (rgtwc.ddm and rgtwc.wem) are currently created by manually manipulating the
file containing Irrigation Water Requirement (rgdss.ddc) provided by the Consumptive Use
Contractor. The rgdss.ddc file must be manually split into two files to separate structure type
DIV and D&W from structures of type WEL, and merged with other appropriate time series files.
Demandts is currently being upgraded such that this process can be automated.
Attachments
1.
