The objective of this task is as follows: <br />Meet with large and/or critical ditch companies in the San Luis Talley to discuss their <br />facilities and operations. <br />On March 12, 1999, an interview was conducted with Mr. Travis Smith of the San Luis Valley <br />Irrigation District (District). The purpose of this interview was to develop a better understanding <br />of District facilities and operations such that this information could be reflected in surface water <br />modeling efforts associated with the Rio Grande Decision Support System (RGDSS). The share owners of the Company were bought out <br />in 1905 and the special district was formed by State statute. The District is managed by a group <br />of officers and a seven member board of directors.
