However,
Partnership lands generally benefit from subsurface irrigation returns resulting from water
application on adjacent lands.
Capacity Problems
There are no significant problems or concerns related to diversion or carrying capacity of the
ditches used by the Partnership.
Water Measurement
Water is measured at each river diversion point of the ditches used by the Partnership. Water
deliveries at individual farm headgates are generally not measured, and owners work
cooperatively to ensure equitable division of their water supply.
Geographic Location and Size of Service Area
Lands owned by the Partnership are primarily located in areas north and south of the Conejos
River and Rio San Antonio. There are approximately 3,000 acres owned by the Partnership,
which includes about 1,800 mountain acres.
Use of Storage Water
The Partnership has no ownership in storage water rights, but several of the ditches in which it
owns water rights purchase water from Platoro Reservoir (from the Conejos Water Conservancy
District). Several of these ditches also participate in the District's direct flow storage program.
Information concerning operations of Platoro and water made available to users can be found in a
memorandum documenting discussions with the Conejos Water Conservancy District.
C:Acdss\Lucero.doc Los Hermanos Lucero Interview June 24, 1999 -Page 2 of 4
