Return Flows
Return flows from irrigation in District 25 occur by way of both the surface and groundwater. All
return flows from irrigation use eventually accrue to groundwater aquifers within the closed
basin. There are not significant return flow points within the District.
River Gains and Losses
The majority of the creeks administered in District 25 loose water as they flow to San Luis Creek
and into the Closed Basin. In fact flows from many of the east-side creeks never reach San Luis
Creek at the surface.
San Luis Creek, which receives a portion of the losses from area tributaries, also experiences
losses in its upper reaches. The lower reach of the creek, downstream of County Road 66,
experiences small gains during later part of the summer and early fall. These gains are not
significant though, and are insufficient to fully meet water rights in this area.
Comments and Concerns
None
Attachments
1.
