District 20 Commissioners have observed significant losses on the Rio Grande in some reaches,
although the amount of this loss appears to be a function of river stage. With respect to the
releases of reservoir water for downstream use, a 10 percent transportation charge is applied to all
releases for uses above Alamosa. A 20 percent shrink is applied to reservoir releases down to a
point near Closed Basin Canal outfall. The Commissioners have observed that the Rio Grande
typically gains water downstream of the County Line. The commissioners also noted that natural
diurnal flow variations are commonly on the order of 100 to 1,000 cfs.
Comments and Concerns
None
Attachments
1.
