TRT Mission Statement: Water Conservation and Efficiency Tecluucal <br />Roundtable: <br />At extremes: mums saying good job on conservation; conservation says we <br />could do more for demand reduction; <br />Formed two subconunittees: <br />1) If we used conserved water for the following purposes, how does it affect <br />system reliability vs conservation: <br />--to improve reliability for existing customers; for new growth; other uses: <br />enhancement stream-flows <br />-- Technical savings vs. behavioral savings: behavioral changes during <br />drought; teclulical savings are long-term; <br />--System reliability: some portion of conserved water availability for <br />growth; each water system is unique; conserved water can be available for <br />drought reserve; <br />2) What are the projected long term savings from conservation alternatives? <br />--Measure, potential water savings; type of program: turf replacement <br />accounts for'/~ of water savings; <br />--issues: storage and transferability; <br />--lots of potential in conservation; <br />Some of deliverables in the document: <br />Conservation and Efficiency: <br />Path Forward: Conservation and water resource development should be pursued <br />concurrently-both take time to implement (fundamental disagreement on this statement) <br />--goals for reducing per capita water use should be established-must be site specific <br />--Conservation planning elements should be thorouglily consideredCWBC Grants <br />available <br />--CO needs to do more to prepare for droughtupdate of state drought plan <br />--Conservation as a source of future water supply remains a challenge <br />--Brown opines that we need to look at pre-compact water on CO River; need plan of <br />action; <br />--Denver Water provides water to 25% of our population; they say we won't share... what <br />to do? <br />Alternative Agricultural Transfers to Permanent Dry-Up TRT: Examine and illustrate <br />how M&I and other water uses can be met with ag rights on a reliable basis <br />Descriptions of Alternative Techniques <br />--interruptible supply agreements <br />--Rotational fallowing agreement <br />4 <br />
