It was anticipated
that rebuilding the diversion in March would allow for enough time during low water to
accomplish bank revegetation and grouting the headgate. However, due to an unforeseen
warming trend, water levels rose quickly and it was not feasible to install vegetation. In
addition, the amount of time spent dov~rn at the river coordinating and overseeing the
restoration process was taxing on staff communication.
Tasks remaining to be completed next fall include grouting the rest of the concretf;
headwall, installing the slide gate, removing the access road, and revegetating the area
with willows. Money received from Trout Unlimited, and anticipated funding from the
Colorado River Water Conservancy Diistrict has been set aside to finish the rest of the
project in the fall and repair any damage during the initial settling. This will likely prove
beneficial, as NFRIA can trouble-shoot any problems that arise during high water and
correct them with contingency funds.
4
