C. EVALUATION OF OBJECTIVES AND TASKS
Objective 1. Preplanning and Coordination
Task 1: Form Restoration Team and Design Restoration Plan
The Restoration Planning Team was formed at the beginning of Phase 1 to work on
designing a Restoration Plan for the project area. The Team participated in field trips to
the project area and attended scheduled meetings which resulted in Restoration Plans
for each project Reach. The Team accomplished the following:
o Completed detailed assessments of each project Reach;
o Identified areas that will be reclaimed;
o Identified BMPs and resources needed for the project;
o Identified and measured areas for post and cable fencing;
o Developed a project map of the area;
o Identified cost estimates for projects during 2006 - 2008;
o Ranked project priorities; and
o Created a timeline for restoration work.
Task 2: Facilitate Involvement and Information Sharing
Project partners have informed the community, stakeholders and partners about the
restoration project in the following ways:
o Monthly reports at the Boulder Ranger District's OHV meetings;
o Articles about the project have been included in newsletters of the Lefthand
Watershed Oversight Group and Boulder Ranger District;
o Project information and volunteer opportunities have been posted o the
Wildlands Restoration Volunteers' website; and
o Mailing to 300 stakeholders inviting them to participate in the fall 2007 restoration
day events.
Task 3: Develop Construction Plans and Prepare Restoration Sites
Our project partners, Wildlands Restoration Volunteers, developed site-specific
construction plans for the September 2007 Lower Ridge Restoration Project. They
delineated the project's work zone, developed a detailed schedule of construction events
and participants roles, prepared the staging area, and recruited and trained the
volunteers. The Boulder Ranger District developed site-specific construction plans for
Upper Carnage Creek Restoration Project. They recruited and trained volunteers
(AmeriCorps, Trailridge Runners 4x4 Club, Big Thompson 4x4 Club and Wildlands
Restoration Volunteers) to help with post and cable fencing.
