Appendix A
Development of the Phase 2 Task 43.2 Aquifer Properties Data Set
"Trans" and "K" were not null. B was calculated as
''Trans'' / 7.48/'' K" .
2. "B" (sand thickness) values were estimated for all HydroBase
pumping test and specific capacity tests, which were not excluded as
identified in the steps above, where "B" was null and for all Task 37
pumping and specific capacity tests. B was obtained from the
geophysical data in HydroBase as the primary source when permit
numbers and suffixes could be matched. If no matching record was
found in the geophysical data then a B value was extracted from the
Phase 2 Task 42 Aquifer Configuration grids. For specific capacity
tests, if the B value was extracted from the Task 42 grid, it was
corrected for partial penetration. A total aquifer thickness was
extracted for each test location from the Phase 2 Task 42
Configuration grids. The total perforated interval was divided by the
total thickness and multiplied by the grid's total sand thickness value
to obtain the corrected B value for a partial penetrating well. If the
total perforated interval was greater than the B value then the B value
was used and no correction was applied.
3. "B" (sand thickness) values were estimated for all HydroBase
pumping tests, which were not excluded as identified in the steps
above, where the "Comment" field value was'B=BPERF-TPERF
(used to calc. K)'. B was obtained from the geophysical data in
HydroBase as the primary source when permit numbers and suffixes
could be matched. If no matching record was found in the
geophysical data then a B value was extracted from the Phase 2 Task
42 Aquifer Configuration grids.
4. "K" values were calculated for all wells where a new B was
estimated by "Trans' divided by 7.48 divided by "B" to obtain "K" in
ft/ d.
D. Final Data Set
After all exclusions were made and all data processed as indicated in items B and
C, the final data set was used to complete the Phase 2 Task 42.3 TM data analysis.
SPDSS Task 43.2 TM- Final A-3
02/13/06
