4) Calculate the `average of the average' (with respect to % of normal) number of <br />excessively warm days for the stations in the basin. <br />For Division 2, there were only two stations (Pueblo and La Junta) that were analyzed as <br />the area of the majority of the demand (below Pueblo Reservoir) and actual daily data <br />availability limited the area of focus. <br />Stream flow <br />The naturalized stream flow data for Colorado Water Divisions 3, 4, 5 and 6 was <br />acquired from the Colorado Water Conservation Board — Water Supply Protection <br />Section. The stream flow for Division 2 was derived from a combination of calculations <br />of `naturalized' flow for the Arkansas River from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and <br />additional information derived by HDR Engineering- Water Resources section. <br />Hydro - Climate Index <br />The Hydro - Climate Index (HCI) data was acquired from the NOAA - Climate <br />Diagnostic Center located in Boulder, Colorado. The actual calculation of these variables <br />is calculated by either the CDC or by various institutes. More information on the HCI <br />variables and their sources can be found in the Data Appendix. <br />As alluded to in the section above, there are six (6) HCI that were examined to see <br />if there was prognostic value into the supply, demand, and yield components of the <br />system. The HCI's are dispersed over various sections of the globe with particular <br />emphasis over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans of the Northern Hemisphere and near <br />equatorial regions. An overview map of the general regions of where these HCI are <br />predominant can be seen in Figure 2. <br />Figure 2.
