In these situations it may be more appropriate to focus upon other restoration <br />actions, such as re-vegetating the banks and/or reintroducing beavers, which will eventually alter the <br />shape of the channel and thereby indirectly help resolve the problem. By simultaneously examining a <br />number of different features of the stream-riparian ecosystem in each of several different functional <br />categories, it is possible to obtain both an overall picture of the current health of the stream or river in that <br />reach, as well as the specific areas where restoration programs may be particularly effective. <br />16 <br />
