^ Site access protocols, including contacting certain well owners prior to measuring their well,
were updated.
Recommendations
Below are recommendations from the activities performed under Task 39 for consideration
during future Denver Basin bedrock autumn water level data collection.
^ Continue to collect autumn water levels from the SEO bedrock water level monitoring
network to assess seasonality in aquifer water levels.
^ Install data loggers in a limited number of bedrock aquifer wells to assess short-term water
level variability (on a daily to weekly basis) that is not possible from the semi-annual
measurements.
^ Coordinate with SEO staff conducting spring water level measurements to make well owners
aware of the SPDSS autumn data collection process and thus increase the number of positive
responses.
^ Evaluate well completion intervals for any new wells that may be incorporated into the SEO
water level monitoring network.
^ The SEO should add a statement to their water level solicitation letter indicating that autumn
measurements will also be solicited for the SPDSS in the upcoming few years.
^ The State should determine if the accuracy provided by the sonic meter is acceptable for the
goals of their water level measurement program, and if so, then should use the sonic meter
in future data collection efforts in order to provide significant time and cost savings.
^ Improve documentation of wells in the SEO water level monitoring network, including
accurate well location maps, addresses, contact information, recent measurements and other
pertinent information for water level data collection.
