H/ Model, bah humbug! I appreciate the bah <br />humbug, but we're not in a position to ignore the instructions of the US Supreme Court as to how we <br />resolve these issues. Most of the information in the HI Model is not based solely on textbook theory, but <br />on studies done in the Arkansas Valley. <br />Does the state have any current baseline data from USGS on return flows to the Arkansas <br />River from Ag water? We have it from the compact litigation, not from the USGS. <br />Has the state done any real data on phreatophyte evapotranspiration and evaporation effects in <br />the Arkansas? Yes. Of the 250 days of trial, there were two weeks of testimony on phreatophytes. <br />Is any real research planned by Colorado Division of Water Resources State Engineer on water <br />lost by native species to the Arkansas River? I don't know if more research will be done. It doesn't make <br />a big difference to the compact because it's not a positive or a negative, it just is. <br />Who will fund? If the state wants data, the state should re-fund.
