MEMO 89.2
2.6 Land Cover Mapping
In addition to the irrigated crop maps described above, RTi generated an enhanced land cover map for the
entire SPDSS area. The purpose of this map is to provide information on general classes of natural
vegetation for the groundwater modeling areas. The procedure used to create the enhanced land cover
map is shown in Figure 14.
The SPDSS land cover map was created by combining the SPDSS irrigated lands parcels created by RTi,
the Colorado Division of Wildlife's Riparian Map, and the Colorado Vegetation Map (CVM) produced
by Natural Resources Ecology Laboratory (NREL) at Colorado State University. This procedure
combined the best available and up-to-date land cover datasets in the area to produce an enhanced land
cover map. SPDSS irrigated parcels were given first order of importance and thus supersede the other
two datasets. The procedure used to create the SPDSS 2001 irrigated lands classification is described in
Page 21 of 45 ~Rlversfde FecAnotogy, fnc.
4'JaYer Resources Errgi~ecr:np an~i CansuFlrnp
Figure 14.
