?
The user can input coordinates for a structure in order to override the read coordinates for a
structure or station. This is useful for adding new structures or if the original data are
missing or erroneous.
?
A big-picture plot has been implemented to allow display of the differences between two
delplt
scenario runs or to summarize one run. This takes advantage of the utility developed
by the State (addressed in task 2.11.2 of the original scope).
?
demandts watright tstool
File headers produced by , , and are updated by the StateMod GUI
when files are written. This allows further tracking of data set changes. File headers include
comment lines that begin with a # character. These lines are recognized as comments by
StateMod and the DMI utilities. If a file is read by a DMI, existing comments are passed to
the new output file so that the comments section contains a full history of the commands run
to generate and modify the file. Users can also manually add comments with an editor. An
example file header is:
\beware\crdss\header.txt
Subtask 8. Write a task memorandum summarizing Task 2.06 activities and results.
This subtask involves the preparation of this memorandum.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The following recommendations are made for consideration related to scenario management, DMIs, and
the StateMod GUI:
?
The value of an effective scenario manager should not be minimized. Though the product
developed for CRDSS satisfies the scope of work a more thorough scenario manager may be
appropriate. It is recommended that the scenario manager be ported to a PC and be reviewed
further at that point.

?
makenet
The utility represents the StateMod network in a more readable and editable form.
The functionality and data used by this utility should be strongly considered for inclusion in
the StateMod model and GUI in one form or another. The network plots have proven very
valuable in reviewing the data sets.

?
The file headers produced by the DMIs and the StateMod GUI are a very useful concept and
should be extended to other applications within the CRDSS.

?
The use of the DMIs and StateMod requires significant background information and may be
confusing to someone without this experience. The software has had numerous checks put in
to detect user error, however implementation of the checks can take over a software task.
Future development efforts should clearly define how well a program will check data.Users
need to have knowledge of the software documentation before attempting to use the
software.

4
a320/taskmems/ 2-06-01.doc 01/03/97
