Performance of output devices is important because the final product of many analyses is a hard-
copy document. RTi has experience with developing software to format output for PostScript
printers, e.g., to print 132 column output on a standard 8.5"-x-11" sheet. RTi also has experience in
automatically stripping out the most important parts of large output files so that long output files do
not need to be printed in full.
Outputting results in graphical format and by condensing text output will increase the performance
of printers and will allow users to better perform analyses. RTi recognizes that hard-copy output is
an important product of CRDSS and performance of output devices should equal that of the
interactive components of the system.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The purpose of this memorandum is to highlight the issues of performance and flag any areas of
concern. No recommendations are presented at this time, because performance issues have not been
tested on the CRDSS. The discussion material presented in this memorandum should be used as a
reference when studying performance issues.
