The per capita gross usage for each type of use (urban, rural, commercial and public) can be
provided by the user (and thus, allowed to vary) for each sub-basin, also a different consumptive
use ratio can be used for urban and rural consumptive use. The values used for this task memo
were obtained from USBR, 1991, as shown in Table 9.
Consumptive use values were obtained by multiplying the basin-wide population totals (Table 10)
by the sum of urban or rural, commercial, and public gross usages and multiplied by the
consumptive use factors. The results are shown in Table 11.
2.5 Mineral Resources
Mineral resource consumptive use is reported by the United States Geological Survey for 1985
and 1990 in the Yampa River Basin. The values for 1986 through 1989 were obtained by linear
interpolation among the 1985 and 1990 values. The values reported for mineral resource
consumptive use for the years 1985 and 1990 can be obtained from the USGS world wide web
page at http://h2o.er.usgs.gov/public/watuse. Table 12 shows the mineral resource CU values.
2.6 Thermal Electric
Thermal electric consumptive use is reported by the United States Geological Survey for 1985
and 1990 in the Yampa River Basin. The values for 1986 to 1989 were obtained by linearly
interpolation among 1985 and 1990 values. The values reported for thermal electric consumptive
use for the years 1985 and 1990 can be obtained from the USGS world wide web page at
http://h2o.er.usgs.gov/public/watuse. Table 13 shows the thermal electric CU values.
2.7 Export (Transmountain Diversions)
Transmountain diversions data are obtained from the Annual Report of the Division of Water
Resources, Water Division 6 for the water years 1985-1990. No exports to locations outside the
basin were reported.
2.8 Fish and Wildlife
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptive use for fish and wildlife uses.
2.9 Recreation
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptive use for recreation.
2.10 Results
Table 14 shows the six-year average annual CU for the different non-irrigation categories. The
total average annual CU for the non-irrigation categories is 31,419 acre-ft. The details of the
calculations are shown in Section 5.0: Supporting Materials.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The CRDSS CU model is implemented using the Yampa River Basin data. CU estimates for the
livestock, stockpond, and municipal were calculated for the Yampa River Basin. The data for
reservoir, and mineral categories were obtained from the USGS by HUC. No fish and wildlife
and recreation CU data was reported for this basin.
01.21.96 3 02.09-12 IDS/CSU
