Consumptive use values were obtained by multiplying the basin-wide population totals (Table 10)
by the sum of urban or rural, commercial, and public gross usages and multiplied by the
consumptive use factors. The results are shown in Table 11.
2.5 Mineral Resource
Mineral resource consumptive use is reported by the United States Geological Survey for 1985 and
1990 in the Upper Colorado River Basin. The valu es for 1986 through 1989 were obtained by linear
interpolation among the 1985 and 1990 values. The values reported for mineral resource
consumptive use for the years 1985 and 1990 can be obtained from the US GS world wide web
page at http://h2o.er.usgs.gov/public/watuse. Ta ble 12 shows the mineral resource CU values.
2.6 Thermal Electric
Thermal electric consumptive use is reported by the United States Geological Survey for 1985 and
1990 in the Upper Colorado River Basin. The va lues for 1986 to 1989 were obtained by linearly
interpolation among 1985 and 1990. The values repor ted for thermal electric consumptive use for
the years 1985 and 1990 can be obtained fro m the USGS world wide web page at
http://h2o.er.usgs.gov/public/watuse. Table 13 shows the thermal electric CU values.
2.7 Export (Transmo untain Diversions)
Transmountain diversions data are obtained mainly from the Annual Report of the Division of
Water Resources, Water Divisi on 5 for the water years 1985-1990. Table 14 shows the different
diversion structures where dive rsions are recorded for the y ears 1985-1990. The diversion records
are available in a total volumetric amount for each year. The total volume of exports is shown in
Table 15.
2.8 Fish and Wildlife
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptive us e for fish and wildlife uses in this basin.
2.9 Recreation
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptiv e use for recreational uses in this basin.
2.10 Results
Table 16 shows the six-year average annual CU for the different non-irrigation categories. The total
average annual CU for the non-irrigation categ ories is 583,798 acre-ft. The details of the
calculations are shown in S ection 5.0: Supporting Materials.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The CRDSS CU model is implemented using the Upper Colorado River Basin data. CU estimates
for the livestock, stockpond, and municipal are obt ained for the Upper Colorado River Basin. The
data for reservoir and mineral categories was obtained from the USGS by HUC. No fish and
wildlife and recreation CU data was reported for this basin.
3
01.21.97 2.09-10 IDS/CSU
