Figure 1 shows the annual IWR of all the subareas as estimated by SCS Blaney-Criddle, with and
without enhancements. The 6-year annual average IWR is 169,270 acre-ft and 186,030 acre-ft for SCS
Blaney-Criddle with and without enhancements, respectively. The peak IWR occurred in 1989 (108 and
107 percent of the 6-year average IWR for SCS Blaney-Criddle with and without enhancements,
respectively). The lowest value occurred in 1986 (87 and 84 percent of annual average). The IWR
estimates using SCS Blaney-Criddle with enhancements are con-sistently lower. The details of the result
are included in Section 4.0, Supporting Materials.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The CRDSS-CU model is used to estimate the total irrigation water requirement of selected areas in the
Gunnison River basin. These areas are going to be associated with diversion structures for further
analysis.
The total area is divided into several subareas. A total of 123 crop-soil combinations are obtained with
each combination exclusively associated with a particular subarea. The soil type is not identified, but the
AWC has been calculated for each combination. The crops that are reported in these areas include
alfalfa, pasture, dry beans, corn grain, orchard, tree farms, small grains, and vegetables.
The 6-year annual average IWR is 169,270 acre-ft and 186,030 acre-ft for SCS Blaney-Criddle with and
without enhancements, respectively. The estimates by SCS Blaney-Criddle with enhancements are
consistently lower.
4.0 SUPPORTING MATERIALS
Tables 3a through 3d show a summary of the results of the computation in selected areas. They are taken
from the gun_crdss_struct_bc.prj output file from the CRDSS-CU model.
4
A275 01.09.95 1.14-25 Manguerra
