Results
Figure 1 shows the 6-year average annual consumptive use for the different non-evapotranspiration
categories. The total annual consumptive use for the non-evapotranspiration categories (excluding
mineral resources and export) is 25,780 acre-ft, where approximately 50 percent is evaporation losses
from reservoirs. Figure 2 shows the 6-year average annual consumptive use distribution by subarea.
Gunnison2 has the highest consumptive use (approximately 36 percent of the total consumptive use),
Mesa5 has the highest consumptive use for livestock and export categories, Montrose6 has the highest
consumptive use for stock pond and municipal categories, and Gunnison2 has the highest consumptive
use for reservoir category. The details of the results of the calculations are shown in Section 5.0.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The CU model is implemented using the Gunnison River basin database. Consumptive use estimates for
the livestock, stock pond, reservoir, and municipal categories are obtained for each subarea that
comprises the Gunnison River basin. No data are identified for the mineral resources and export
categories.
The 6-year average annual consumptive use for non-evapotranspiration categories is 18,970 acre-ft, the
greater part of which is evaporation from reservoirs.
4.0 REFERENCES
Blaney, H.F.
