Agricultural Stock Pond Use
Stock pond consumptive use is an estimate of water loss through evaporation from stock ponds. The data
presented in Table 6 will be required by the CU model.
TABLE 6
AGRICULTURAL STOCK POND USE
MODEL INPUTUNITSTYPEFROM ENTITY(S)
Pond locations in areaLocationFloatGIS_Data GeoLoc
Surface area of stock ponds in areaAreaIntegerDerived from GeoLocPon d
Surface evaporation characteristicsLength/TimeFloatReference
Agricultural Livestock Use
Estimates of the amount of water consumed by livestock are available. These values can be multiplied
by the number of livestock in a given area to compute the total consumptive use for this category. The
USBR Methods Manual uses this quantity in gallons/head/day (gphpd) to measure the consumptive use.
The number of livestock per area will be recorded on a yearly basis. Table 7 contains the required
livestock consumptive use data.
TABLE 7
LIVESTOCK CONSUMPTIVE USE
MODEL INPUTUNITSTYPEFROM ENTITY(S )
Number of livestock in area (for each of UnitlessintegerGIS_data non-
cattle, sheep, hogs) (monthly) irrigated field
Livestock consumption coefficients (for UnitlessFloat creature_consum
each) (monthly)
Municipal and Industrial
Municipal consumptive use data can be represented as diversion time-series, or they may be calculated
from per capita consumption and depend on yearly population data. The industrial and thermal electric
uses will be determined by the amount of water allocated or diverted for those purposes.
