The CU model will be generating output data. These data may be stored outside the model in Phase
II(a), and a consistent process for handling the generation of scenarios should be developed more fully in
Phase II(b).
Unit Types for Data
Types of units will be a major factor in determining the quality and ease of use of the system. There are
often different choices of units for any given data field. Sometimes the source of the data will determine
the units for data storage, but the user may define how those units are expressed in the interface.
Therefore, in this document the unitless quantity names will be used and some standard unit types will be
anticipated.
TABLE 1
UNIT TYPES
UNITLESS STANDARD
QUANTITY NAMEMETRIC REPRESENTATION REPRESENTATION
Lengthmeters (m)feet (ft)
Volumecubic meter (m3)acre-feet (acre-ft)
Areahectaresacres
Timehour, day, week, month, yearhour, day, week, month, year
Dateday/month/yearJulian days
o o
Temperaturedegrees Celsius ( C)degrees Fahrenheit ( F)
Flow (volume/time)cubic meters per second (cms)cubic feet per second (cfs)
Velocity (length/time)kilometers per day (kpd)miles per day (mpd)
Universal Transverse Latitude and Longitude
Location Mercator (UTM) (Lat/Long)
Baseline Scenario Data
When the user accesses the model, he/she will be presented with information that will be stored as a
baseline scenario and will be asked to specify certain parameters needed to estimate consumptive use.
These values may be used as default values or altered by user input. Based on the input from the user,
the CU Model will use the DMI to extract the required data to be used in estimating consumptive use.
TABLE 2
BASELINE SCENARIO DATA
CU MODEL INPUTUNIT TYPESTRING TYPEFROM ENTITY(S)
Beginning date of CU calculationDateCharacter String or IntegerCU_Scenario (Default)
Ending date of CU calculationDateCharacter String or IntegerCU_Scenario (Default)
First date of irrigation (each year)DateCharacter String or IntegerCU_Scenario (Default)
Last date of irrigation (each year)DateCharacter String or IntegerCU_Scenario (Default)
Gunnison basinSpatialCU_Scenario (Default)
2
A275 01.09.95 1.14-2 Lange
