N ~' <br />NCWCD, a public agency created in 1937, provides water for <br />agricultural, municipal, domestic and industrial uses in <br />northeastern Colorado. <br />The District was established as the local agency to contract with <br />the United States to build the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. <br />The project stores water from the Colorado River headwaters in a <br />series of reservoirs on Colorado's West Slope. Water is <br />transported, via the 13-mile Alva B. Adams Tunnel, through the <br />mountains to the District's eight-county service area on the East <br />Slope. <br />NCWCD employs approximately 104 full-time staff members <br />ranging from support personnel and engineers to <br />operation, maintenance and administrative staff. Most work out of <br />the District's headquarters in Berthoud, CD, 20 are based at the <br />Farr Pumping Plant on the West Slope near Granby, CD. <br />NCWCD encompasses 1.5 million acres in portions of Boulder, <br />Larimer, Weld, Broomfield, Morgan, Logan, Washington and <br />"' Sedgwick counties. <br />Figure 6 -Main NCWCD Web Page <br />Task 53 1.doc 9 of 14 December 21, 2004 <br />(Rev January 25, 2006) <br />
