<br />· Bob Glancy showed west wide SNOTEL readings to show good snowpack in the central Rocky
<br />Mountains and Pacific Northwest with pockets of drier conditions in Utah and Nevada.
<br />· Recent flood warnings were issued at Elk River near Milner, Flood watches East River (Gunnison
<br />

<br />(Routt County), Yampa River (Moffat County)
<br />· The bottom line was hot and dry until Wednesday
<br />with accelerated snowmelt and some frre weather
<br />concerns; somewhat cooler the remainder of the
<br />week with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
<br />· For the remainder of May. . . the upper trough
<br />remains to our west with southwest flow.
<br />Conditions will be generally dry. . . but thunderstorms
<br />east of the divide will be subject to low level
<br />moisture and instability. Snowmelt should
<br />accelerate again next week.

<br />· Gary Bates gave the seasonal outlook for NOAA.
<br />., Snowmelt delayed? 8-14 day precipitation forecast
<br />(26 May-2 lun) shows --75% chance of wetter than
<br />normal conditions over the Colorado mountains.
<br />6) La Nina has weakened (below normal sea surface
<br />temps in tropical Pacific) and is expected to
<br />continue weakening thru summer.
<br />· NOAA's seasonal forecast for JJA is for increased likelihood ofwarmer than normal conditions, based
<br />on agreelnent between multiple forecast tools.
<br />· Klaus Wolter's experimental forecast guidance (from April): July-Septelnber precipitation forecast
<br />indicates slightly increased odds (+5%) of wetter than M · ~
<br />normal conditions for eastern Colorado. Little signal · .,
<br />over western Colorado.
<br />· The June - August forecast for temperatures from
<br />NOAA calls for above average temperatures.

<br />Next Meetinf! Date
<br />The next meeting date has not been set. It is anticipated
<br />be held after the bulk of the snowmelt peak flows. An
<br />email announcement will be sent to all Task Force
<br />Members to coordinate an appropriate date/time/location
<br />the next jo int meeting.
