District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to gather
additional information on Longmont and to review poten-
tial problems.

The U.S. Geological Survey was contacted to obtain his-
toric flood flow information data (References 5, 6,
and 7). Maps of flood prone areas, prepared by the U.S.
Geological Survey, showing approximate flood plain
delineations at 1:2400 scale were also reviewed
(Reference 8).

~

In a joint meeting on August 27, 1974, with the Urban
Drainage and Flood Control District, the Flood Insurance
Administration, and the private engineering firm of Gin- ~
gery Associates, Inc., the study reaches were clearly
explained, along with the methodology to be used in the
study. An additional meeting was held on January 24,
1975 in Washington, D.C. to further clarify the purpose
of the study and the methods used for flood plain deli-
neation.

Numerous other agencies and individuals were contacted
for background information. Agencies included the
Colorado Water Conservation Board, the Colorado Highway
Department, and the Longmont Daily Times-Call newspaper.
Private citizens of Longmont were also interviewed re-
garding past floods, high-water marks, and flood damage.

The final CCO meeting was held on January 7, 1976, by
the Planning Department of the City of Longmont, at
which the Federal Insurance Administration's Consultation
Coordination Officer and the contractor explained to the
city staff and citizens the purpose of flood insurance and
the technical methods used to develop the maps as pre-
sented.
