. CWCB staff has met with officials to offer technical assistance through the Flood Response Program. We
have met with or heard from officials in La Plata County, Montezuma County, Archuleta County, San Juan
County, Alamosa County, Costilla County.

. The CWCB has a Flood Response Program for post flood aerial photography, post event floodplain
mapping, flood forecasts and outlooks, and flood mitigation.

. The CWCB strives to work closely with partnering state agencies such as CDEM, DWR, and CGS.

Urban Drainage & Flood Control District
. Kevin Stewart of the Urban Drainage & Flood Control District has a flash flood prediction program for the
Denver Metro Area that has 170 precipitation measurement stations and 70 stream gages.
. There has been demand for pager and text message alerts for flash floods by the local governments in this
network.
. UDFCD has hired Chad Kudym formerly ofHDR Engineering as the GIS Coordinator and anticipates that
web services and GIS friendly products will be produced. The Alert system is measuring rain
precipitations and is real time, up to date information.
. UDFCD works cooperatively with the National Weather Service, specifically Larry Mooney, Bob Glancy,
and Treste Huse.

Department of Local Affairs

. Barry Cress of the Dept. of Local Affairs explained that his agency is again conducting a set of Water and
Sewer Management Workshops around the state in May. This year, the focus will be on financial
management for water and sewer systems. The events are paired up with the Colorado Municipal League
Spring Outreach meetings, in which municipal officials can learn about developments that are important
to them arising out of this year's legislative session.

. He also reported that the Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund (WPCRF) program in Colorado is
starting to do a better job at identifying storm water and non-point source pollution projects for funding
through the program. Since this program is intended to fund
projects that clean up streams and lakes in the state, and much
pollution comes from storm runoff from urban, mined, and
agricultural areas, it is a good source of funding for storm
water projects that will also improve water quality.

. He also reported that the most recent round of energy impact
funding requests had about 4 projects (out of about 70) that
had some flood-control or drainage element as part of the
project. Decisions on these requests are expected soon.
. Marshall Frech has worked with the City of Boulder and has received funding from federal, state, and
local entities with an interest in flooding to develop the
floodsafety.com website and other flood information most
recently in Colorado.

. Marshall provided the Task Force Members an update on the
