Meeting participants invited to be members of the FTF include local, Executive Director
state, and federal officials and private sector experts. The FTF meets during flood season (April Rod Kuharich
through September) to coordinate flood related activities, monitor extreme weather and share CWCB Director
information and assistance opportunities. The meeting included short-term and long-term Dan McAuliffe
weather forecasts; spring and summer flood outlooks, and new developments in local, state, and Deputy Director
federal agency programs. This report summarizes the presentations and discussion at the meeting. The Flood Task
Force meeting minutes and PowerPoint presentations from the meeting reside on the CWCB web site located at
htto://cwcb.state.co.us/flood watch/index.html. PowerPoint presentations from the NRCS, HDR Engineering, and
USGS (Streamflow Forecasts) are included. For questions about the Colorado Flood Task Force, please call Larry
Lang at (303) 866-3989 or Joe Busto at (303) 866-4807.

Bill Owens
Governor

2005 Sprin2: Snowmelt Flood Threat Potential
This year the spring snowmelt flood threat potential is elevated compared to the last seven years due to above
average snowack in the southwestern and south-central portions of our state. In response to these conditions, the
CWCB Flood Protection Program has been issuing flood reports and snowpack maps for three major basins and
portions of other basins that are considered to be at risk, at least for the time being, for snowmelt flooding. The
flood reports are designed to update interested parties and coordinate with local governments throughout the runoff
season.
