Rnwinsonrle <br />launches were made at Plumas*Eureka Stale Park Headquaru..rs at Johnsville by State Park <br />personnel and at the DWn Thermalito Annex near Oroville by contractor personnel. For the <br />1992.93 and 1993-94 winter seasons, only the Johnsville site (see figure 2.1) was used for the <br />rawinsonde operations. This rawinsonde system was an AIH (Atmospheric Instrumentntion <br />Research, Inc.) Intellisonde Meteorological Rawin System modeIIS-4Al-MET-UAS-120-MDl. <br /> <br />Rawinsonde upper-air sounding observations were taken at 6-h intervals during favorable <br />(stormy) weather conditions. The information from these upper-air soundings was used in <br />the real-time seeding decision making process, and also for postseason studies. <br /> <br />Figure 2.5 shows the rawinsonde tracking antenna at the .Johnsville site, which was located <br />at about 1500 m elevation along the lee slope of the Sil'rra Nevada. <br /> <br />9 <br />
