Once again, while in the <br />early 1930's there is a general positive relation- <br />ship between above normal precipitation and above <br />normal type frequency, the relationship after that <br />is almost inverse. The reasons for such a poor <br /> <br />correspondence between the type of frequency on a <br />season-to-season basis, and seasonal precipitation <br />totals presumably reflect high variability within <br />types. Whereas the main types may occur on nearly <br />all days in a season (e.g. 1945), precipitation <br />totals may remain low due to particularly dominant <br />small-scale synoptic situations within each major <br />synoptic' type. <br /> <br />Table 9.
