Although gradually diminishing in depth, SL W persisted throughout <br />the day, and high icing rates indicated RRS was in cloud consistently through at least 1500. <br />The main trough passage at mountain top level is clearly seen in Fig. 10 where a sharp \\'ind <br />shift occurred shortly aller 1400, followed about an hour later by a sharp drop in temperature. then <br />a gradual decrease in temperature as the colder air mass from the north settled in over the area <br />Supercooled liquid water amounts in the northv.'cstcrly flow regime were markedly lower than <br />amounts in the prctrough environment.
