The Bureau of Reclamation sponsored a Sk}~ater X Conference to dis-
cuss the status of the preli.T1inary studies and design work performed for I
the Sierra Cooperative Pilot Project (SCPP). This project 1S part of Tne 1
Bureau's Sky'Water Program which has as an overall goal the development of 1
an effective ~eather modification technology, scientifically and socially I
acceptable, for precipitation management to serve a portion of the Kation'~
water needs. Presentations covered the earlier work performed on SCPP,
enviromnental impact statement status, a report from a local citizen's
COilllcil formed to provide input to the program, supporting environmental
monitoring \.;ork, and results from preliminary field studies conducted ill I
the area. Detailed presentations were glven on the proposed design ror I
the continuation of SCPP L.""lcluding sum:r.arizations of task force workshops
conducted in tlrree areas 1) Extended Areas of Effect 2) Tracers and
Contamination 3) Hypotheses. Yne conference was conducted to provide an
open forum for presentation of \\"ork perfonned to date. Audience partici- I
pat ion was encouraged \o.i.th conr.:.ents recorded and included wi.th the Con-
ference proceedings.
