ABSTRACT
Weather modification activity in Colorado is regulated by state statute
(Title 36, Article 20, C.R.S. 1973) and administered by the state Depart-
ment of Natural Resources. The main focus of weather modification
activity in the sta te is the augmentation of winter snowpack. Federal
research programs have included hail suppression, snowpack augmentation,
and the transport and diffusion of seeding materials. Commercial projects
to affect precipitation have been conducted to suppress hail, to increase
rain, and to augment winter snowpack - with the last being the predominant
commercial activity in recent years.
This document includes identification of needed research projects of
particular importance to the state, a history of Colorado weather
modification legislation and br ief descriptions of projects conducted
af ter 1972 from the files of the Department of Natural Resources.
17.
