Section 2. - Aircraft

,
'.

The University of North Dakota Cessna Citation II aircraft was stationed in
Montrose, Colorado, from November. 28 through.. December}_~,' .l~~ for cloud
mi crophysi cs invest i gat i oMovertlfe<<trana Mes-a.' These measureml~nts were made
in conjunction with the CRADP (Colorado River Augmentation Demonstration
Program). We were quite fortunate in having a relatively high fl"equency of
storm systems during the 4 weeks of the field program. A total of 19 missions
were flown, most of which were of interest to potential weather modification
activities. The data should yield some interesting conclusions regarding the
snowfall over the Grand Mesa.

The ai rcraft data were recorded on magnetic tape and were suppl emented by 35mm
slide photographic data. Voice notes were also recorded on each mission. A
list of instrumentation and recorded parameters is given in tabll~ 2-1. The
radiation sensors were not installed on these flights and the 16mm calmeras were
not operated.

The raw data tapes have been processed into an intermediate archive format and
given to the Bureau personnel in Montrose. An arch~val copy of the tapes is
also available from the Denver office. The intermediate data tape inventory is
given in table 2-2 and the tape format is in table 2-3. Several of the later
data sets are being re-processed to correct a timing problem.

2-1
