<

4
These activities are reported in detail in the WSSI Final Report. No pre-
vious project of this type has amassed as much data of such high quality.

This executive summary reports the analysis. and evaluation of CRBPP
data by Aerometric Research Inc. (ARI). Details of the evaluation are con-
tained in the Final Report by Aerometric Research Inc.S The difficulty of
this task was increased because post-facto analysis of data showed that
many of the clouds actually seeded were not of a suitable type. In
addition, on some experimental days weather did not develop as forecast,
and little or no snow fell. In numerous cases seeding material remained in
the area beyond the planned experimental seeding periods. On other days
rapid weather changes produced conditions under which seeding decreased
precipitation.

As a result, the total unstratified statistical analysis found no dif-
ference between precipitation on seeded experimental days and control days.
However, when days of missed forecasts were removed, and data from experi-
mental days were reduced to six-hour time blocks to improve the correlation
between meteorological covariates and precipitation, increases during
certain classes of seeded cases were statistically significant.

The analysis has enabled identification of seedable situations with much
more certainty than before.
