4. PRELIMINARY METEOROLOGICAL MEASUREMENTS

Since most pieces of research equipment were used
for several different purposes, the fOllowing
discussion about procedures and approaches will
be organized around four main objectives of the
1977-78 field season.

3.9 Wind, temperature, and humidity
sensors at various locations in the
area of interest.

3.1 To obtain detailed microphysical and
dynamical data which will permit in-
depth analysis of several cases each
of stable orographic clouds, convec-
tive cells, and convective bands.

The primary pieces of research equip-
ment utilized for this objective were
the King Air 200 aircraft with its full
array of cloud particle probes and
state parameter instrumention, the
mobile cloud physics laboratory,

across the Sierra barrier.

3.10 Rawinsonde observations at Sheridan,
Fresh Pond, Oakland, and Santa
Clara, California and Reno, Nevada
