<br />Page 36 <br /> <br />D. Daily schedule for ground-based field operations <br />The operation of ground-based observing systems will be the <br />primary responsibility of NAWC. The NAWC supervisor will <br />coordinate work schedules daily with the Bureau site coordinator <br />and insure that the equipment required to meet the day's research <br />objective will be operated. NAWC will have the primary <br />responsibility for the following observing and dispensing <br />systems: <br /> <br />1. Rawinsonde observations. Routine twice-daily rawinsonde <br />releases will be made on all operational days at 00 and <br />12l (0500 m.s.t. and 1700 m.s.t.). Additional releases <br />will be made at 3-hr intervals during periods of intense <br />operations. These will be scheduled by the NAWC super- <br />visor after consultation with the Bureau site coor- <br />di nator. Data wi 11 be coll ected to the 200-mbar 1 E!vel <br />for all soundings. <br /> <br />2. Radar observations of cloud top elevation. The radar will <br />be operated during all periods of cloud cover with bases <br />estimated to be below 15,000 feet m.s.l. <br /> <br />3. Microwave radiometer observations of liquid and vapor <br />water contents of the atmosphere. Continuous <br />
