Photographic Ice Crystal Replicator <br />with Wind Shield <br /> <br />3.2 Auxiliary Instruments and Equipment <br /> <br />Supporting data such as ice nucleus counts, radar data, and atmospheric <br /> <br />soundings of temperature, humidity, wind speed and wind direction were <br /> <br />also collected. Figure 4 shows the locations of three expansion-type ice <br /> <br />nucleus counters, two 3-cm radars, and the WSSI operated RD-65 rawinsonde. <br /> <br />The two radars and the rawinsonde at Pagosa Springs were operated only <br /> <br />during the 1972-73 winter season. One ice nucleus counter was at K03 <br /> <br />(elevation 3,000 meters), about half way down the pass on the west side. <br /> <br />Another ice nucleus counter was at MNl (elevation 2,217 meters) at Albert <br /> <br />Schnell's house about 10 kilometers southeast of Pagosa Springs and the <br /> <br />third at KLl (elevation 2,438 meters) about 25 kilometers northwest of <br /> <br />Pagosa Springs. All three ice nucleus counters were of the CSU Rapid <br /> <br />Expansion type manufactured by Western Scientific Services, Inc. The <br /> <br />-10- <br />
