WSSI Photographic Ice Crystal Replicator <br /> <br />The photographic lice crystal replicator was positioned at the highway <br /> <br />maintenance area about 1.5 kilometers east of the summit on Wolf Creek <br /> <br />Pass (KP3). The elevation of this location is 3250 meters. Care was <br /> <br />I <br />taken to locate the instrument with good exposure at the highway camp. <br />I <br />I <br />Figure 3 shows t~e operating positions relative to buildings in the camp. <br /> <br />Six meters or so to the north of the rep1icator was a large cut which <br /> <br />I <br />provided a zone clear of trees and underbrush. The nearest building was <br /> <br />8 meters away in 1973-74 but had a low roof. The garages shown in <br /> <br />Figure 3 were futther away but had roofs that reached to about 9 meters <br />I <br /> <br />at the gable. Under the light wind conditions for which the data were <br /> <br />valid, this exposure appeared adequate. The location of the photographic <br /> <br />replicator operating site at KP3 relative to the terrain surrounding the <br /> <br />Wolf Creek Pass area is shown in Figure 4. <br /> <br />-7- <br />
