16. ABSTRACT
As part of the Sierra Ecology Project, 1361 citations relating weather modification activities to environmental
responses were gathered from nationally recognized abstracting services and from the Bureau of Reclamation, U.S.
Department of Interior, Denver, Colorado and the Pacific Southwest Forest and Range Experiment Station,
Forest Service, U.S. Department of Commerce. Berkeley, California. The citations are divided into 25 topical
categories, including biological, hydrological, geological processes, effects of weather modification upon cultural
systems, inadvertent weather modification, and seeding agents. The contents emphasize environmental responses to
wintertime orographic seeding in which snow, rather than rain is the primary result. Key term, author, and
geographical indexes supplement the numbered citation listing.
