The first, figure 36, is really only a
mechanical redesign of the Sky fire-type generator to
make setup and operation a little simpler. The
second, figure 37, is based on the work of Mr.
Donald Fuquay and his associates in the U.S. De-
partment of Agriculture and can be expected ulti-
mately to yield a considerable increase in nuclei
output over that of conventional generators. It
operates much like a turbojet engine, having a com-
pressor (a.c.-powered blower) injector, flame-holder
and combustion chamber. All three configurations
have been operated from Emerald Mountain under
quasi-operational conditions and for a total of 17
hours. All have given consistent, reliable operation.

--F-'-- -

RU5T~.K

. ~ -.ie,

1

-~-=- --
:c-1-=

I
....

_.~,
_-1-,,_

-~-.~

: .
Ic-- --- -

Jc=-:

:=c:<

-:.:: - - '::+.::

- - ~ -
-
- - ---
-
.> ) ) ) )

) ) .> ) J

----., ----
N

-::!

~
I )

_ 10 min, _

Figure 30.-Example of Optical Snow-rate Sensor Data.
