The Bureau
will be responsible for archiving the cloud physics data.
7.1.6 Satellite
Texas Tech University will be responsible for collecting mld archiving
appropriate visual and IR satellite data for subsequent analysis, as well as
for relaying to the Project Director in Big Spring all important information
regarding the location and extent of the formation of convective clouds on
each mesoscale operational day. This function will be restricted to meso-
scale operational days because of constraints on funds and manpOWE~r.
7.1.7 Synoptic Data
Synoptic data consisting of teletype and facsimile products will be
collected by TAMU personnel at College Station, and by TDWR personnel at
Big Spring and archived for future reference and use as needed. ,~ll tele-
type data and facsimile charts will be collected continuously during the
period June I-July 31, 1978. Mr. William Alexander, TDWR, will be responsible
for the daily operation and maintenance of the facsimile and teletype
machines in use at the Big Spring Municipal Airport.
7.1.8 Forecasting for Operational Decisions
Mr. William Alexander of the Texas Department of Water Resources will
be responsible for providing an outlook for the following day each evening,
for issuing a forecast for each day by 8:30 a.m. for use in making the meso-
scale operational decision, and for issuing a detailed and specific Texas
HIPLEX operational forecast by 11 a,m. each day. The
"stand-up" briefing will include the anticipated operations for that day.
If a seeding mission(s) is conducted, the air crews will be debriefed
immediately following each flight unless it is decided that it would be
advantageous to wait until the following morning. The morning debriefing
will include a debriefing of the air crews for flights made the previous
day even though a debriefing may have been held immediately following
each flight the previous day.

~

22
