These terms are defined and determined as

fclIO\./s. Side-c;h<mnel infla,v is the quantity of VJ2ter that enters the

?ur~atoire River between the Trinidad and Thatcher gages:

It is deter-

mi~ed from a relationship between excess precipitation and side-channel

inflc'", deteliTdne-: for- hlstoric21 cond~itions 25 s~o'.'Jn en Fisure 2.

Excess preci?itation is the sum of the precipitation in excess of 0.15

inc~es per storm ror e2ch of the Trinidad, Trinidad Airport, and

Doherty Ranch precipitation stations. A storm is defined as total

precipitation occurring during one cr more'consecutive days in whith
days withcut precipitation do not occur two or more times in a row.
The side-channel inflmv sho.~TI on Figure 2 VJas determined by the differ-
ence bet'.'Ieen the measured fJO'.v at Thatcher and the historic residual

flo.v determined from the relationship shown on Figure 3. The relation-
ship sho..m on Fiqure 3 was determined from Table 2 on page 13 of
Volume II of the USSR Trinidad Project report. This table is attached
for reference. The historic residua'l flo\v is defined as the flO\v at
Trinidad less the historic depletion.
In Figure 4 the relationship between modified residual flow and
the flm"J at Trinidad is shovln. The modified residual flovoJ is defined
as the flow at Trinidad less the modified historic depletion from USSR
Table 2 attached, where the modified historic depletion is the deple-
tion which would result by assuming the total Model Reservoir Storage
