<br />Extended area No.2 begins at Susanville, California. and reaches <br />northeastward to Wi nnemucca, Nevada. From there, it intersects <br />Battle Mountain, Nevada, and reaches directly south to Tonapah, <br />Nevada. It then intersects extended area No. 1 at Highway No. 167 <br />in Nevada. Extended area No.2 includes the Shoshone Range and the <br />southern portions of the Toiyabe Range. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />A discussion of the factors leading to the selection of these study <br />areas is contained in NAWC's Interim Report No.1, Continuing Design <br />Work for the Sierra Cooperative Pilot Project, September, 1978. <br /> <br />Major facilities and equipment'for the 1978-79 winter season are: <br /> <br />1. A SWR-75 (5-cm Skywater radar) operated by the Bureau. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2. A cloud physics and cloud dynamics aircraft (King Air 200) <br />operated by UW (University of Wyoming). <br /> <br />3. A seeding aircraft operated by Aerosystems, Inc., capable of <br />dispensing both dry ice and droppable AgI flares. <br /> <br />4. Five ice nucleus counters operated by the data collection <br />contractor along Interstate Highway No. I-80 and U.S. No. 50. <br /> <br />5.
