There has been a certain degree of mistargeting resulting from a lack of
understanding of transport and dispersion characteristics of nucleant plumes
that for all but the highest level generators often behaved differently than
those in the Climax experiment. This lead to some cases of self contamination
of unseeded control days.

The implications of these results with respect to the design of an oro.-
graphic project for testing the effectiveness of a seeding method in producing
increases in target area precipitation will be presented in a later paper.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

The U. S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Division of
Atmospheric Water Resources Management, has provided the support and the data
base for the on-going basic analyses of the Colorado River Basin Pilot Projl~ct.
This article contains only a brief resume of the major findings to date th,at
are relevant to design of orographic seeding test projects. More detailed
information may be found in the third interim report (Elliott et. al., 1975).

REFERENCES

Cermak, J. E., L. O. Grant, and M. N.
