<br />-2- <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />;. <br /> <br />The purpose of this seminar series is to bring the Oklahoma Wea- <br /> <br />ther Modification Community up to date concerning the activities and <br /> <br />problems associated with operational weather modification in the <br /> <br />United States as of the early 1980's. <br /> <br />Weather modification comprises: <br /> <br />. rainfall augmentation <br />. hail suppression <br />. snowpack augmentation <br />. fog dispersal <br />. lightning suppression <br />. hurricane modification <br />. inadvertent (such as urban effects) <br />. etc. <br /> <br />We will be concerned with the first item in this seminar series; <br /> <br />although, we will draw examples from the others for illustrations. <br /> <br />This particular seminar will give some idea of the scope of the <br /> <br />problem. It comprises four main topics: <br /> <br />A) A general overview, <br /> <br />B) impact implications, <br /> <br />C) the weather system of interest, and <br /> <br />D) some observation systems. <br /> <br />The written text will be kept to a minimum as the interpretation <br /> <br />of most of the material is quite clear. <br />
