ARKANSAS BASIN

Basinwide Conditions Assessment
The SWSI value for the month was +3.1 The
Natural Resources Conservation Service reports that April 1
snowpack is 141 % of normal. Flow at the gaging station
Arkansas River near Portland was 711 cfs, as compared to
the long-term average of 368 cfs. Storage in Turquoise,
Twin Lakes, Pueblo, and John Martin reservoirs totaled
100% of normal as of the end of March.

Outlook
Total distributed reservoir storage following the
Pueblo Winter Water Program was 153,035 acre-feet,
including 53,237 acre-feet in Pueblo Reservoir, 77,075 acre-
feet in off-channel reservoirs, and 22,155 acre-feet in John
Martin Reservoir (after distribution to accounts). Storage in
John Martin Reservoir through March 31, 2008 in
conservation storage totaled 26,097 acre-feet.

Administrative/Manaqement Concerns
Heavy snowpack in the Arkansas Basin has
prompted significant planning in anticipation of potential
runoff issues and to manage storage in Pueblo Reservoir
and upstream reservoirs in an optimum manner to avoid
spills from Pueblo Reservoir while still preserving adequate
space for higher than average expected Fryingpan-Arkansas
Project water imports.

Apr-08

ARIWS6S BASlN9/lS HSTCRY

~

w
:::
<t
> 0
x
w
o
Z
-.1
>-
0::
o
.2

.3

..
J<n-99 Jan-OJ Jcn-01 Jan-02 Jen-03 Jan-04 Jcn-05 Jan-03 Jcn-07 Jan-CB

M:N1H/\S'R

ARKANSAS RIVER NR PORTLAND, FLOW BY WATER YEAR

250, CXXJ

1D
,f 2OJ, CXXJ
dJ
"
<t

~ 15O,CXXJ
-'
LL
W
>
~ 100,CXXJ
-'
::J
::;;
::J
U 50, CXXJ

o
Cct

Nov

Dee

Jan

Feb

M3rch

--8- V\ET (1934)

-+- DRY (=l

~AVG

"*- 2OJ8

REPRESENTATIVE RESERVOIRS

250.00J

2OO,00J

1D
2
dJ
g 150,(0)
<Ii
OJ
ro
o

~ 100,(0)
:0
ro
<f>
::J

5O.00J

John M3rtin

Pueblo

Turquoise

Twn Lakes

II Avg. 3131 Contents

113131/08 Contents

4
